Donald R. Davis is the Ragnar Nurkse Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Columbia University and is widely recognized for his leadership and scholarly contributions in spatial and urban economics. He has held influential roles, including a faculty position at Harvard University from 1992 to 1999 and serving as Chairman of the Department of Economics at Columbia. His leadership extends to serving on several editorial boards and as Past President of the Urban Economics Association. Davis’s research has advanced our understanding of international trade, economic geography, regional economics, and urban economics. More recently, he has focused on the distribution of skills across cities and the segregation of consumption by race and ethnicity, offering insights vital for contemporary policy.He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed both an MA and a PhD in Economics from Columbia University.
