He is a Distinguished Visiting Scholar, Institute for International Economic Policy (IIEP), George Washington University, Washington D.C. He served on the External Advisory Group for the G 20 Finance Track for the Year 2022-23 during India’s G-20 Presidency.
Erik Berglöf is the inaugural Chief Economist at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
He is the Robert W. Scrivner Professor of Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School, where he teaches courses in social policy, public sector economics, government innovation, and American economic policy.
He was educated in Economics at St. Stephens College and Law at the Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi and obtained his Ph.D in Economics from IIM Bangalore. He joined the IAS in 1983 and superannuated from the service in 2019.
Fellows
He has a PhD (1997) in economics from Duke University with a thesis on “The Time Path of Macro Variables under Alternative Structural Settings”. Prior to that he got his Masters’ degrees from the Delhi School of Economics (1985) and Duke University (1994), and a bachelor’s degree from Hindu College, University of Delhi. He has lectured extensively and written on economics, finance, regulation, public service delivery and other public policy issues.
He is a Professor in the Economics and Planning unit, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Delhi and Program Director of CECFEE. His research is in the economics of environment and development and microeconomic theory. He is the Editor of the journal Environment and Development Economics published by Cambridge University Press.
She is a Professor of Economics at the Indian Statistical Institute (Delhi), Visiting Professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto, and Research Fellow at the IZA (Bonn).
He is a Non-resident Fellow at the NITI Aayog. He currently supports couple of nonprofits and public policy institutions.
