About the talk:

  • Survey data (2018–2025): labour market growing in quantity, not quality, while low-skilled jobs grew most, highskilled actually declined

  • AI exposure is highest in higher-skilled roles (IT, finance, professional services); geographically concentrated in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala

  • Ram Singh: the US currently shows near-zero employment growth alongside 2%+ GDP growth — a warning signal worth watching

  • Lohit Bhatia: the demographic dividend window is open for ~20 more years — "What kind of rich do we want to be: a large aggregate economy, or one where the average Indian is genuinely well-off?"

  • S. Krishnan: large-scale AI displacement not yet supported by macro evidence in India; focus should be on the opportunity side: MSMEs, healthcare diagnostics, manufacturing leapfrogging
